Sustain-A-Bowl saves nearly $10K in water, energy costs

More than 4,000 Auburn University students in 30 residence halls saved nearly $10,000 in water and electricity costs in this year's Sustain-A-Bowl, Auburn's annual resource reduction competition. The goal of the competition was for every residence hall to reduce both their electricity and water consumption by 10 percent. Each year, the competition challenges residents to live more sustainably by reducing their electricity and water usage and increasing their recycling for the four-week period. In the last five years, students have saved almost $46,000 through energy and water reductions.
