Last month, President Barack Obama proposed background checks on all gun sales and bans on military-style weapons, including high-capacity magazines as part of a legislative package aimed at stemming the recent tide of gun violence across the country.

Since that time, it has been anything but business as usual for the nation’s sporting good stores, which have seen those items flying off the shelves.
