The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident where thousands of dollars worth of NASCAR memorabilia was taken.

Capt. Van Jackson said that at 1:41 p.m. Sunday, deputies received a call about a burglary and theft that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 215 in Phenix City. Jackson said the victim told law enforcement that among other things, a number of collectibles commemorating the NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt were taken, totaling over $20,000. Jackson said it wasn't specified whether it was Earhardt Sr., who died during a race in 2001, or his son, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
