Opelika man arrested and charged in alleged murder-for-hire plot

An Opelika man was placed in jail Wednesday night after being charged with allegedly hiring someone to kill a person.

According to a release sent out by the Auburn Police Division Thursday afternoon, officers arrested Keith R. Stephens, 55, and charged him with a felony warrant for criminal solicitation to commit murder. Stephens is being held at the Lee County Detention Center, where his bond was set at $75,000.
