The defense team for Harvey Updyke Jr., the former state trooper accused of poisoning Auburn’s Toomer’s Oaks, recently requested for an observer to evaluate the jury pool for the upcoming court case in support of a pending motion to move the location of the trial.

In a motion filed Monday, Andrew Stanley, Updyke’s attorney, requested that his team be granted “extraordinary funds to retain a statistical and/or analytical expert to review and analyze Lee County jury venire records” and to present the evidence in support of an amended motion for a change of venue for the trial.
