Auburn, Opelika men killed in Elmore County crash

Two local men are dead as the result of a single-vehicle crash over the weekend.

According to a press release sent out by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at 7:55 a.m. Sunday on Elmore County 429 when Jesus Ugalbe, 19, of Opelika ran off the roadway and overturned the 2004 Nissan Xterra he was driving. Ugalbe and his passenger, Gerardo Costillo, 24, of Auburn, were both ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
