Leader stepping down after discussion with mayor Longtime Opelika police chief announces retirement

After a law enforcement career that has spanned 46 years, 22 of which he’s spent as Opelika’s chief of police, Thomas Mangham announced Friday he will be retiring.

Mangham’s stepping down as the OPD’s leader comes at the request of Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller.
