An Auburn man has filed a lawsuit against the city of Opelika, directed mainly toward the Opelika Police Department.

In a complaint that was filed last week, attorneys for Calvin Watts called for a federal trial against Ofc. Joshua Combs, former OPD Police Chief Tommy Mangham and the city of Opelika, alleging that on Oct. 9, 2011, Watts was assaulted by Combs and “other unknown officers” at a traffic stop and beaten to the point that he sustained “severe and permanent injuries.”
