East Alabama Children’s Choir to hold Spring Concert

The voices of children will once again fill the air when the singers of the newly-formed East Alabama Children’s Choir present their inaugural Spring Concert. This year’s concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Goodwin Recital Hall on the Auburn University Campus. The East Alabama Children’s Choir was founded in the fall of 2007 by founding director, Gayle Smith. Assistant Director is Pam Kenney and the accompanist is Dr. Frank Weathers. The East Alabama Children’s Choir represents nine different schools in Lee and Tallapoosa counties, as well as a number of home schooled children.
The Spring Concert will feature a variety of choral music from early years to contemporary and from classical to lighter selections. Some of the music to be performed includes Bist du bei mir, Rejoice O My Spirit, and Laughing and Shouting for Joy by J. S. Bach, I Will Sing With the Spirit by John Rutter, Laudamus Te by Vivaldi, O Magnify the Lord With Me by Stan Pethel, In My Father’s House by Craig Courtney, Galop by Berg, Joy in My Heart by Rollo Dillworth and When I Am Silent by Varner. A special feature of this year’s Spring Concert will be the Disney Classics Medley featuring many of the favorite songs from the world of Disney. The medley will be complete with staging by choreographer, Anna Hovey.
The Spring Concert is free and the public is cordially invited.
