Jin Wang, faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering, has received a 2008 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award for her proposal, “Inferring Gene Regulatory Mechanisms through Integrated Metabolic Network Analysis and Cybernetic Modeling.“

She was chosen from more than 100 scientists across the nation.

Given annually by Oak Ridge Associated Universities, the award recognizes faculty members from member institutions who are within two years of their initial tenure-track appointments as assistant professors for their work in engineering or applied science; life sciences; mathematics and computer science; physical sciences; and policy, management or education.

The recognition is intended to enhance research and professional growth and result in new funding opportunities during the early stages of the recipients’ careers.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a consortium of 99 major research institutions developed to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies and private industry. ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for the U.S. Department of Energy. The award is named for Ralph E. Powe, who served as the ORAU councilor from Mississippi State University for 16 years.
