Chambers County District Court Judge Calvin Milford set a $250,000 bond for Lafayette City Councilman Toney Ben Thomas during an initial court appearance at the county’s detention facility Friday, according to officials at the jail.
Thomas, arrested and charged with first degree domestic violence, first degree assault, first degree rape and first degree kidnapping Thursday, had not made bond Friday afternoon, Maj. Clay Stewart said.
Bond was $100,000 for the domestic violence charge, $50,000 for kidnapping and $100,000 for the rape charge, Stewart said.
Thomas was arrested by the Roanoke Police Department and taken to the Chambers County Detention Facility Thursday. Thomas was re-elected to the District C seat in Tuesday’s municipal election, earning 79 percent of the vote.
