An autopsy performed Monday confirmed the preliminary finding of an inflamed heart, a condition known as myocarditis, as the cause of death for a 7-year-old Auburn girl who died over the weekend at George H. Lanier Hospital in Valley.
The condition has been ruled as a natural cause of death by Medical Examiner and Laboratory Director Dr. Stephen Boudreau.
The name of the child and her parents have been withheld by authorities.
The child reportedly stopped breathing near Valleyt as the family returned home from a trip to LaGrange.
