Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigators are still looking into the Wednesday night shooting death of Lee County resident Felton Tate. Tate, 44, died in surgery at The Medical Center in Columbus after being transported from Lee County by helicopter. Tate was shot outside his Lee Road 39 home late Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a homicide, Chief Investigator Capt. Van Jackson said.

No arrests in the case have been made.

“We’re trying to develop suspects,” Jackson said.

Tate’s body was sent to Montgomery for an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Lee County Crime Stoppers at 888-522-7847. All callers can remain anonymous.
