First Lady Laura Bush will speak at Enterprise High School’s graduation next Thursday.
Enterprise High School principal Rick Rainer confirmed the First Lady’s scheduled appearance in a phone interview Friday evening. Rainer said he worked to get Bush to visit Enterprise because he had promised this year’s graduating class a special event. Last year’s graduating class had their prom catered by Rachel Ray.
Rainer said he got the ball rolling on getting the First Lady to visit after a trip by the school’s choral program to Washington in April.
In March 2007, Enterprise High School was destroyed by a tornado, and eight students were killed in the collapse of a school building during the storm. Since then, Enterprise High students have been attending school at Enterprise-Ozark Community College until a new high school is constructed.
The graduation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Enterprise High stadium.
