Tuesday is decision day for voters in several unresolved races for city leadership positions in the area.

In Opelika, Ward 3 residents will go back to the polls to decide who will represent them on the city council between hopefuls Lucinda Samford Cannon and Joey Motley.

Candidates in run-off elections only need to win by a single vote, Opelika City Clerk Bob Shuman said.

Voting for the Ward 3 run-off election will be at the Opelika Community Center at 1102 Denson Drive. Poll hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT.

In LaFayette, the mayor’s seat is undecided, but that will change today as voters choose between incumbent Mayor Robert C. Finley and challenger Matthew Hurst. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT at City Hall.

In Lanett, Rebecca S. Looser and John Duskin are in a runoff for the District 4 council seat.

In Valley, three council seats are still up for grabs. In District 1, voters are set to decide between candidates James H. McDowell and O’Neal Shaw. Ray Edwards and Lisa M. Brudette are facing off in the race for the District 3 seat. In District 5, Rodney Mitchum and Deborah Chambers are still in contention. Polls will be open in Valley from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.
