Votes Thursday as the Alabama Senate, on a 20-11 vote, failed to reach the necessary number of votes to begin debate on a bill removing Alabama’s sales tax from groceries. Voting yes were 0 Republicans and 20 Democrats. Voting no were 11 Republicans and 0 Democrats. Not voting were 1 Republican and 0 Democrats. Abstaining were 1 Republican and 2 Democrats.
