Opelika narcotics officers and members of the Chambers County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force busted up an alleged methamphetamine lab being run out of one of the rooms at the Super 8 motel, located off of U.S. Highway 280 in Opelika.
Officers arrested Brandon Scott Coker, 33, of Valley at the motel’s Columbus Parkway location, according to Opelika Police Chief Allan Elkins.
“When officers made contact with Coker, he was in possession of components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine,” said Elkins.
Coker also has outstanding warrants in both Georgia and Chambers County for trafficking methamphetamine and being a fugitive from justice, according to Elkins.
Coker is currently being held in the Chambers County jail for violation of probation, Elkins said.
The incident remains under investigation.
Over the last month, members of the Chambers County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force have executed search warrants and conducted investigations resulting in 31 arrests.
