Man falls to death in Auburn

A West Point, Ga., man reportedly fell to his death at an Auburn apartment complex early Sunday morning, according to a report released Monday by the Auburn Police Division.

Police say Russell W. Patterson, 29, who was visiting a friend at the 300 block of East Thach Ave., fell from a second story balcony at approximately 3 a.m. Authorities responded to the call and transported Patterson to East Alabama Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m.

The cause of the fall is under investigation by police, Lee County Coroner’s office and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.  An autopsy is scheduled and at this time no foul play is suspected.
