Mayor Bill Ham Reacts to AU Student’s Death

Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn Police Division, in cooperation with State and local law enforcement, is investigating the death of Auburn University student Lauren Burk. At this time, law enforcement officials are following up on all leads in the case.

Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. commented, “Today is a sad day for Auburn University and the City of Auburn. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Lauren, as well as the entire Auburn University family. Auburn is not just a town with a university; we are a university-town. Auburn University is intrinsically linked to the City of Auburn. Their triumphs are our triumphs and in this instance, their tragedy is our tragedy. As we grieve this untimely death, we hope to see justice served swiftly. I have the utmost confidence in the Auburn Police Division and State and local authorities. Anyone who has information related to the shooting is urged to contact the Auburn Police Division’s tip line at (334) 501-7337.”

For more information, please contact Auburn City Hall at 501-7260.
