Montgomery police probe weekend homicides

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Weekend homicides in Montgomery are under investigation.
Police Captain Huey Thornton said three men were shot Sunday night when a drug deal went bad. He said two men were found in a van and one victim died. Thornton said a third male also was shot. Their names and medical conditions were not immediately unavailable.
Police believe the men were shot in the Hayneville Road area. No arrests were made.
In a separate case, a fatal stabbing just after midnight Saturday left a 38-year-old Montgomery man dead. Vincent Yelder died of a stab wound to the chest. Blake Samuel was charged with his murder and placed in the county jail under a $50,000 bond.
