A motorcyclist died after being thrown more than 270 feet in a Sunday night wreck with a sedan at the intersection of Lee Road 188 and Lee Road 4 in Loachapoka, Lee County Coroner Bill Harris said.
The rider’s 1998 Suzuki 1000 flew about 15 feet into a tree after it collided with a sedan at approximately 8 p.m., Harris said.
The man died from multiple blunt force injuries, he said.
“It was a horrific impact,” Harris said. “It had to have been to throw him that far.”
The driver of a Saturn sedan was transported by ambulance to East Alabama Medical Center, but her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.
Harris identified the man as Toby Curtis Wagner, 31, of a rural address in Auburn.
The woman also had a rural Auburn address, Harris said.
“It looks like about a head-on collision,” he said. “We still don’t know the details yet. The (Alabama State) Troopers have traffic… investigators finding out what happened.”
A spokeswoman for the Alabama State Troopers said Sunday night she couldn’t give details, as the trooper working the wreck was still at the scene.
