The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University will begin their summer lecture series from noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Lee County Historical Society Museum in Loachapoka.
This session, and those to follow each Tuesday during the summer, are free and open to all interested people.
At the museum, participants will be given tours of all the structures at the museum, which are restored structures from the 1800s, and include a log cabin, blacksmith shop, doctor’s office, cotton gin office, the old Auburn jail and museum structure itself. In addition, they may tour the four different period gardens, including the traditional crops garden, and the large collection of period tools and implements.
Most future sessions will meet at the EAMC Health Resources Center, 2027 Pepperell Parkway, Opelika. Participants are invited to bring lunch and eat while hearing about “Modern Architecture,” “The Battles for a More Accurate Calendar,” “Finding and Sharing Our Memories,” “The Peace Corps: Past and Present,” and “Auburn’s Growth: Economic and Industrial Development” and others.
