Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Opelika man and charged him with one count of rape in the first degree.

Andrew Lanier Avery, 26, of Opelika is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

The charge against Avery stems from a report filed with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Lee County Department of Human Resources Thursday. It alleges that Avery had inappropriate contact with a 7-year-old girl
