Westboro Baptist Church, a group known for protesting and picketing funerals and memorials of fallen soldiers, is planning to picket at the Sunday afternoon funeral of 18-year-old Auburn freshman Lauren Burk, according to the group’s Web site. Burk was killed Tuesday night. Police are investigating her death as a murder.

Westboro Baptist Church, established in 1955, is an Kansas-based organization lead by Pastor Fred Phelps.

The group is also planning to picket the funeral of Eve Carson, UNC student body president who was killed Wednesday morning.

Both funerals are listed on the WBC site’s online picket schedule for Sunday.

Well Bootlegger stickin’ feathers in your butt does not make you a chicken. These people are violating several of Christ’s commands such as loving one another, loving the sinner whle hating the sin, etc. Now sure they like to to tell you that God does hate based on “God hated Esau” but that’s just an issue with translation. Jesus said according to KJV text “He who does not hate his father and mother cannot be my disciple.” the proper meaning of this is that one is coming before the other the opposite of a favorite love. God prefered Jacob over Esau but he didn’t loathe Esau.

Savvy?

I am completly repulsed by these people as well as appalled that they could EVEN call themselves christians.  I know these has to grieve God to see these people do these things in HIS name.  They are truly the perverted ones!  Please know Burk family our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Mr. Phelps… oh, I’m sorry, the term “Mister” infers respect and I have none for you, but i spoke to the family, and it’s a PRIVATE funeral.  YOU and your friends are not invited.  If you come, I may have to invoke my right of assembly and freedom by picketing your bunch of nuts.

I just talked to Fox News, and they said they would not run a single story about the radical Phelps picket.  I tell you I respect Fox news more now then ever before.  The lady I spoke with was not the news hound I was expecting.  She said “ I am not going to give a single sec of Lauren’s time to the Phelps!” I tell you that is respectable for a news agency.

Lady, you need to think about what you are saying… Hmm lets see you went to college. Does God hate you? Oh and you had a child out of wedlock. Should you burn in hell?  Not to mention, you have absolutely no business telling people who is going to hell and who isn’t because only God can make that decision. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror before judging everyone else.  And, usually people have a “phobia” of a gay people because they themselves are gay! So, I think you and your church are a bunch of gays!!!

I cannot believe you people. To celebrate the death of a loving, giving young girl is sick and disgusting. Lauren Burk was a wonderful person and all you people care about is your twisted version of the Bible. God says in His word to “Love one another” and Jesus himself said to love your neighbor as yourself, the second greatest commandment. Look it up. You take God’s holy word and take it out of context and twist it into your hateful garbage. Jesus commanded us to love all people, but to hate their sins. To protest the funerals of people that you are commanded to love does NOT reflect God’s love and mercy for his people. This organization is disgusting and I know that God is disgusted when he looks at every single one of you. I am a student and Auburn and this is the best college I have ever seen. The people here are loving and kind, and YOU ARE THE DEBAUNCHED AND DEPRAVED PEOPLE!! I hate everything that you people are doing. Leave these mourning people alone and STAY AWAY FROM LAUREN BURK’S FUNERAL!!!

I can finally speak with some amount of calm resolve regarding this case.  My 18 year old daughter, a freshman at Auburn, came home for the weekend to mourn and to find some way to reconcile this tragedy with her family.  She is not sleeping and doesn’t want to answer her phone, in fear that she will hear another friend has been murdered. As a Christian, a mother, a professional in the mental health field, and as a citizen, this shakes me to the core.  The “Phelps” fiasco is simply evil at work.  Bear with me to say, that these people fear our beliefs, our convictions, and our strength.  Dear family of Lauren, stand strong and continue to grieve with dignity and praise as you face these evil cowards.  We are all with you in spirit.  Lauren has not died in vain.  You and your precious child are wrapped in the arms of God.

CNN Hater - give me a break. You sound just as nuts as the Phelps family! Good grief, my list of people to pray for grows longer by the second.
PS - Did you really need to make Lauren’s murder about politics? Are you truly that insane?

Margie Phelps - you and your entire family are nothing but publicity hounds. You are a joke and no one takes you seriously. Shame on you for putting these families through more pain than they are already going through. I can’t imagine God will look kindly upon you when your time comes - but unlike you, I don’t pretend to know God’s will. I’ll pray for you and your family that God will grant you some common sense, but mostly I will continue to pray for Lauren Burk and her family during this difficult time.

They call themselves Christians.  They claim their actions are based on the Bible.  How are they not Christians?
