CHICAGO (AP) _ Barack Obama is meeting with two potential running mates amid a push to outline his vision for Iraq and U.S. foreign policy elsewhere.
Set to join Obama for an event Wednesday at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, are Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh and former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn. They’ll be discussing national security issues.
The event continues the buildup for Obama’s upcoming visit to Iraq and Afghanistan. He also plans to visit Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and Britain.
Bayh has said little when asked by reporters about running on a ticket with Obama. Nunn, a defense expert, is viewed as a senior statesman who could offset the relative youth of Obama, a freshman senator.
