WETUMPKA, Ala. (AP) — Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against an Opelika man charged in the shooting death of a 23-year-old man in the parking lot of the Millbrook Wal-Mart.
Prosecutors say 19-year-old Calvin McMillan fatally shot Bryan Martin last Aug. 29. They say McMillan and 29-year-old Rondarrell Williams of Montgomery killed Martin to steal his truck. District Attorney Randall Houston said Williams will be tried separately.
Both men have been held in the Elmore County jail with no bond since they were arrested the day after the murder.
Martin was on his way home from a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game when he stopped at the store. Prosecutors say the men stalked him through the store, and McMillan shot him in the parking lot.
