Two Chambers County women killed in wreck

Alabama State Troopers are investigating a Sunday afternoon wreck that left two dead and three others injured.
According to trooper spokesperson who answered the phone at the Opelika Trooper post Sunday night, the two-vehicle wreck, which involved a 1995 Buick and a 2005 Winnebago motor home, occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Alabama Highway 169 South when one vehicle pulled out in front of another.
The driver of the Buick, Addie Pearson Manley, 84, of Valley and her passenger, Lillie Rogers, 85, of Cusseta were killed in the wreck. A second passenger in the Buick, a 71-year-old woman, was LifeFlighted to East Alabama Medical Center then to Birmingham. According to the trooper spokesperson, while her injuries were “severe,” she is “expected to survive.”
The driver and a passenger of the Winnebago sustained minor injuries, the spokesperson said.
The accident remains under investigation. According to the spokesperson, speed is not suspected to be a factor.
