VALLEY — Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) announced Tuesday that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will award $25,000 to the city of Valley for a Brownfield sustainability pilot project.

“The city of Valley was once home to a large textile industry,” Shelby said. “However, when the mills closed, Brownfields were left behind. Unfortunately, these Brownfield sites have become a prime hinderance to economic expansion in the area.

“The city of Valley will use this funding to clean up its Brownfield sites and redevelop the land.”
