History has always appealed to me. It is amazing to learn how our relatives and ancestors were able to do so much with so little. My great-grandmother had a vegetable stand, a meat house and a bakery — all in her house on “Baptist Hill.”

Valentines give gift of immeasurable love
On occasion, I have had the opportunity to observe love in action. Many poets have defined love with the symbolic and immeasurable quantities of God’s creations in nature.

Whatever has trickled down will eventually trickle up
I recently had the occasion to overhear a spirited and sharp debate between our “congressional 6-year-old” and her mother.
