Junior pitcher Bryan Woodall was named the Southeastern Conference’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday after pitching in all four of Auburn’s games last week, earning a save in all three of the team’s wins.

Woodall, a former Phenix City-Central star, picked up his fourth save of the season on Tuesday night at Troy, getting a groundout from the only batter he faced in the ninth with the tying run at the plate.

He came back on Friday night and entered in the eighth with two on and one down but got a ground-ball double-play from the first batter he faced before striking out three of the four batters he faced in the ninth in Auburn’s 2-0 win over Kentucky.

Woodall came out again on Saturday against Kentucky and threw the final inning in Auburn’s 7-5, come-from-behind win that clinched the series for Auburn and gave him six saves on the season. He also pitched the ninth on Sunday without and kept Auburn within a run in the only game it lost this week.

For the week, Woodall threw four innings, allowing two hits, no runs, no walks and striking out four. On the season, Woodall has a team-best 0.73 ERA in 12 appearances (12.1 IP), striking out 18 against just a single walk.

Auburn returns to the diamond today against Mercer in a 6 p.m. contest at Plainsman Park.

Auburn will send redshirt freshman left-hander Grant Dayton (2-1, 2.77) to the hill on Two Dollar Tuesday, in which all tickets cost just $2.

Auburn will then head to Hoover and Regions Park, site of the 2008 SEC Baseball Tournament, for Wednesday’s 6 p.m. contest against Samford. Fr. Lefty Cory Luckie (3-2, 2.62) will get the start for Auburn against the Bulldogs.
