Dadeville swept at state softball tournament

MONTGOMERY — Dadeville’s run in the AHSAA Class 4A state softball tournament ended with two losses Thursday.
The Tigers lost their opening-round game to Lawrence County, 5-4, Thursday morning.
And in a surprise, Dadeville had to face the state’s top-ranked team in the losers’ bracket just a few hours later. No. 1 Alabama Christian lost a 1-0 battle to Alexandria in the first round.
Alabama Christian beat the Tigers in that losers’-bracket contest, eliminated them from the tournament.
The Eagles will move on to play Corner in the second round today at 10:30 a.m.
Dadeville reached the state tournament by winning the Area 6 crown over Beauregard.
In the first round of the Sub-State tournament, Dadeville swept Central-Tuscaloosa.
Then, in the second round of Sub-States, the Tigers beat Andalusia in the best-of-three series to qualify for the state event.
