TROY — Glenwood’s softball team took three wins on Saturday to bring home the Pike Liberal Arts Invitational championship.
The Gators defeated Lakeside, 8-1, Pike, 8-0, and then defeated Lakeside again, 4-0, in the championship game to win the tournament.
Over the course of four games in two days, which included a 2-0 loss to Tuscaloosa Academy on Friday night, Terrell Dixon batted 7-for-13, Britt Wilkerson batted 6-for-12 and Victoria Smith batted 5-for-7.
Olivia McLemore was 3-1 at pitcher during the tournament, striking out 40 batters in four games.
Dixon was named the tournament’s MVP, and McLemore earned All-Tournament honors.
The Gators (7-1) will host Edgewood at 3:30 on Tuesday.
OMS goes 1-1 in Auburn Spring Invitational
Opelika Middle School split its two games in the Auburn Spring Invitational on Saturday, defeating Phenix City Intermediate School, 18-0, and falling to Wacoochee Middle School, 7-5.
Bethany Howard had three hits over the two games for OMS, and Cari Driver and Kalee Bugg each had two.
Kelsey Pelham had seven strikeouts over the two games at pitcher, and Maria Mitchell pitched the Bulldogs out of a jam in the second game of the day.
OMS (2-2) will travel to face Beulah on Tuesday.
