SMITHS STATION — It was a good homecoming for Smiths Station, as the Panthers ran their record to 5-0 with a big 49-8 win over Kendrick (Ga.) on Friday night.
Smiths Station quarterback Cody Hussey was 7-for-11 passing for 155 yards and a touchdown pass. Hussey also rushed three times for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Robert Frinks had 15 carries for 105 yards and a score for the Panthers, while Chris Whitehorn had 12 touches for 54 yards and two scores. Lorenzo Betties also had 12 carries, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns for Smiths Station in the win.
The Panthers will host undefeated Auburn in a crucial Class 6A-Region 3 game.
LaFayette 66, Notasulga 28
NOTASULGA — LaFayette scored early and often as the Bulldogs whipped Notasulga at Blue Devils Stadium.
Steven Ricks had a good night for Notasulga (1-4) in the loss, throwing for 159 yards and two touchdowns on a 7-for-10 night. Ricks also rushed seven times for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Cedarius Alexander was 2-for-4 passing for 44 yards and a TD pass. Eric Pollard sparked the Blue Devils early, catching a 65-yard touchdown pass on the game’s first play. But it was all LaFayette after that.
Leading Notasulga was receiver D.J. Bentley, who had two catches for 62 yards and a score, while Melvin Alexander had a 9-yard touchdown reception.
Larry Gresham had 39 yards on six carries for Notasulga in the loss. Mathias Wallace had 13 tackles on defense.
Notasulga will host Talladega County-Central next Friday, while LaFayette will host Montevallo.
Glenwood 37, Prattville Christian 0
PRATTVILLE — Dudley Taylor had a big night for Glenwood in the Gators’ 37-0 win over Prattville Christian on Friday night.
Taylor, Glenwood’s quarterback, rushed for two touchdowns, threw for two more and finished with 73 rushing yards and 136 passing.
Arthur Williams caught both of Taylor’s touchdown passes, while the Glenwood (3-1, 1-2) offense finished with 361 yards of total offense.
Stevie Argo led the Gator defense with 17 tackles, with Glenwood giving up just 161 total yards.
