ATLANTA — John King of Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika was named one of the Top 50 Kids Teachers for 2007 by U.S. Kids Golf.

And now, that fresh-faced, new-to-the-game-of-football kid is a hardened NFL veteran preparing to play in his first Super Bowl with the New York Giants tonight against the New England Patriots.

Plenty of damage has been done in the world of sports — and the world in general — by people talking themselves into things that sound implausible if you think about them for a second.

The examples are myriad (“Ohio State can beat LSU because Jim Tressel is better than Les Miles,” “Florida’s starters don’t have that extra gear to go back-to-back,” “We’ll be greeted as liberators.”), and none are better than the multitude of people trying to talk themselves into the Giants over the last two weeks.

PHOENIX - Looks like Tom Brady will be true to his word.
One day after promising his ankle injury wouldn’t keep him from preparing for and playing in the Super Bowl, Brady was back where he belongs Monday. He practiced with the New England Patriots for the first time since he was hurt against San Diego in the AFC championship game more than a week ago.
