SMITHS STATION — The Beauregard Dixie Youth AAA (9-and-10-year-old) All-Stars continued their run in the District 10 Tournament Tuesday, defeating Opelika American, 6-2.

The loss eliminated Opelika American from the tournament.

Chase Moore was 2-for-2 with a double for Beauregard, which got an RBI single from Hunter Henson and an RBI sacrifice fly from Tyler Crawford.

Trevor May and Brandon Ray each went 1-for-2 for Beauregard.

Beauregard plays Auburn Orange today at 7:30 p.m.

Auburn Orange AAAs get past Auburn Blue
SMITHS STATION — The Auburn Orange Dixie Youth AAA (9-and-10-year-old) All-Stars beat Auburn Blue, 6-5, on Tuesday night to advance in the District 10 Tournament.

It wasn’t easy. Trailing 6-5 in the final inning, Auburn Blue had runners on second and third with two outs.

But Orange reliever Austin Triplett forced a groundout to shortstop, ending the game and preserving Orange’s victory.

John Flanagan was 2-for-2 for Orange and Bradley Northcutt was 2-for-3. Orange also got base hits from Triplett, Rob Smith, Tyus Flakes and Ryan Watson.

Opelika softball headed to state

The Opelika Dixie Ponytails (11-and-12-year-old) softball team beat Montgomery East, 2-1, Tuesday night to advance to the state tournament.

It’s the first state tournament appearance for Opelika’s Ponytails program.
