Local pair wins SJGT Four-Ball

Alex Barnes and Scott Strohmeyer, both of Auburn, claimed the 2008 Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Four-Ball Champioship with a 12-under par 132.
The two-day, 36-hole event was held on the par-72 Lake Course at Grand National.
Barnes/Strohmeyer made birdie on holes 2, 3, 4, 9, 14 and 16 en route to their second-consecutive 66. The team finished the event with a 132 total and two-shot win.
Nicklaus Ward (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Lewis Gruber (Tallahassee, Fla.) finished second after carding a 65-69—134. The team of John Stembridge (Norcross, Ga.) and Will McCurdy (Fort Payne, Ala.) took third with scores of 70-67—137.
In the all Female Division, Betsy Birchall and Hannah Collier, both of Birmingham, finished tied with Kendall Martindale (Jefferson City, Tenn.) and Ashlan Ramsey (Augusta, Ga.), with both teams shooting scores of 73-74—147. Birchall/Collier made par on the first playoff hole to take the Female Division trophy.
Ooltewah, Tenn., natives Jacob Everts and Megan Murphy took the Mixed team title after rounds of 66-73—139. Jimmy Kozikowski and Caitlin Pisciotta of Alpharetta, Ga., finished tied for second with Emilie Burger (Hoschton, Ga.) and Shawn Yim (Buford, Ga.) for second in the Mixed Division.
