MCDONOUGH, Ga. — The Auburn Dirt Devils softball team (16-and-under) faces a difficult road to the championship at the ISA World Series. The Dirt Devils lost their first game of the World Series, 10-5 in five innings, to the Orlando Wildcats.
The loss drops the Dirt Devils into the tournament’s losers’ bracket.
Marina Wilkerson was 3-for-4 in the loss, with two doubles and a home run. Peyton DeLong was 2-for-3 with a double, Falecia Harrelson had an RBI double and Kimblerly Gillock doubled and stole a base.
The Dirt Devils’ new path to the title starts at 7:30 a.m. today with a game against the Central Florida Sting. The winner of that matchup will advance to the championship game, scheduled for 9 a.m. today, against Orlando. The Dirt Devils must beat Central Florida, then beat Orlando twice to claim the trophy.
Auburn 14s fall
THOMASVILLE — Auburn’s Dixie 14s lost their first game of the All-Star season, falling, 5-4, to Jackson in the 14s state tournament.
Tracy Brooks was 3-for-4 to lead Auburn.
Auburn plays today at 5:30 p.m. in a losers’ bracket contest.
