Auburn Dixie Majors stay alive in World Series

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — The Auburn Dixie Major (17-19) All-Star team battled back from a tough loss late Monday night to beat Texas, 14-3, on Tuesday to stay alive in the Dixie World Series.
The win puts Auburn in the championship round against South Carolina today in the play-in game at 5 p.m. Because there are three teams with one loss (Auburn, South Carolina and Florida), a coin toss determined the two teams who would play in the play-in game. Auburn loss the toss against Florida, who beat South Carolina on Tuesday night.
Auburn lost to South Carolina late Monday night, 2-1, to give the All-Star team its first loss of the World Series.
Now the rematch is set.
The winner of today’s 5 p.m. game will play Florida for the championship immediately following.
On Tuesday, Will Ruffin earned the win for Auburn, striking out seven. J.B. Edgar was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and four RBI. Creede Simpson was 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI, while Whitt Dorsey was 3-for-5 with a single, double, three-run home run and five RBI. Drew Hull was 3-for-4 in the win.
