Reeltown’s girls headed back to state championship game
BIRMINGHAM — Since the 2008 basketball season began, Reeltown’s girls have had their sights set on the Class 2A state title game.
That goal has now been reached, as the second-ranked Rebels knocked off Ider, 63-55, in the state semifinals at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center on Monday.
AU baseball sweeps ETSU with ease
The offense continued its hot start in Monday’s game, pounding ETSU’s pitching in a 12-2 win. The victory handed the Tigers a sweep of the four-game series.

TALLASSEE — Whitt Dorsey hit a two-run walk-off home run to lift Auburn High over Stanhope-Elmore, 8-7, Monday night in a tournament at Tallassee.

Auburn head swimming coach Richard Quick and head diving coach Jeff Shaffer, along with swimmers Cesar Cielo and Kara Denby, earned four of the SEC’s postseason honors, the league announced Monday.

Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville said he spent most of Sunday’s practice watching his quarterbacks.
Hargrove, Tigers torch Alabama on Sunday
According to Alabama guard Mykal Riley, the Crimson Tide’s scouting report before Sunday’s game against Auburn didn’t say much about Tigers forward Lucas Hargrove.

TUSCALOOSA — The Auburn swimming and diving team extended its dominance over the Southeastern Conference on Saturday night as the men’s team won its 12th-straight SEC championship and the women’s team earned its sixth team title.
Tigers pound out victory
Auburn battered ETSU pitching throughout Saturday’s game and came away with a 12-1 win. The Tigers (2-0) finished with 14 hits. Even more pleasing for Slater, AU had few bad at-bats — pop-ups or strikeouts that failed to advance baserunners or pressure the defense.
