Those of us who would like to cut the size and scope of government are often called reactionaries and neanderthals. The world has changed and become more complicated, it is claimed. Government must, not just referee, but regulate commercial matters, to make us all safe. But just how far will big government types go? For instance, do they think the U.S. Department of Agriculture should regulate Ernest Hemingway’s cats?
Some busybody did after visiting the famous author’s home in Key West, Fla. Hemingway lived in Key West for a few years cranking out much of his best work. He was especially fond of six-toed cats and had 40 to 50 roaming his property.
