The Hustle Index is in a constant state of flux.

As in, if we here at the blog think of something else to add to the hottest new basketball metric on the AUBlog to make it better, we'll throw it on in there.

After the Tennessee game, we got to thinking about tabulating a Hustle Index for Auburn's opponents.

Before, you could see how certain players did in a game against their season mark and how the Tigers as a whole did as well.

But you could never really tell if they were outhustling opponents on a given night. And if so, by how much?

Now you can.

The opponents' measure follows the exact same rules as the Auburn one: the stats multipliers are based on what teams had done against Auburn on the year going into a specific game, and the season totals are based on multipliers of how the Tigers' opponents have done for the season.

That make sense? Too bad. We're soldiering on.

Here are the totals from the Tennessee game.

Auburn's multipliers are 1.84 (rebounds), 4.75 (assists), 9.44 (steals), 11.55 (blocks) and 4.56 (turnovers).

Tennessee's are 1.85, 5.33, 8.25, 15.98 and 4.41.

Reflections: good dirty work from Forbes, Payne and Johnson, who had been an index pariah for most of the season.

But Tennessee was getting after it more than Auburn.

Jarnell Stokes had an index of 108.87. That might be a record. If such things were important enough to keep records of .

Here are Auburn's season standings. Its multipliers for that are 1.80, 4.81, 9.36, 11.95 and 4.39.

Opponent multipliers are 1.81, 5.37, 8.39, 15.25 and 4.39.

One more thing: I was inspired at Thompson-Boling Arena.

I look up at the scoreboard and right next to the screen that shows points and fouls for the players on the court, there's a "Hustle Board" that displays both teams' totals in rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.

The fever is spreading. Catch it.
