Playing high school football about an hour south of where Gus Malzahn had already made a name for himself as one of the top prep coaches in the country, Kodi Burns knew one day he wanted to play for the hurry-up, no-huddle guru.

Not only did that happen for two years at Auburn University in 2009-10, but now Burns — who was a standout at Northside High School in Fort Smith, Ark., while Malzahn was winning championships at Springdale (Ark.) High — gets to coach alongside one of the sharpest minds in college football as an offensive graduate assistant.
