This week’s poll includes players from LaFayette, Lanett, Opelika and Lee-Scott Academy: >> Jatarvious Whitlow, QB, LaFayette: Had 11 carries for 169 yards and four touchdowns, including runs of 25 and 73 yards in LaFayette’s 39-22 win against Loachapoka. He added 116 yards passing for the Bulldogs.

>> Melvaunta Robinson, RB, Lanett: Finished with 162 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries in Lanett’s 35-14 win against Notasulga. He had touchdown runs of 5, 7 and 5 yards and also had a 50-yard carry in the second half.

>> Jake Bentley, QB, Opelika: Finished 12-of-24 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns in Opelika’s 31-30 win against rival Auburn High. He also made key plays with his legs — both in the run game and with a 60-yard punt.

>> Mitchell Lewis, RB, Lee-Scott: Rushed for 291 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries in Lee-Scott’s 35-13 win against Kingwood. He also had a 33-yard reception for the Warriors.

She also showcased her power this season with 11 home runs and nine doubles. She was a first-team All-State selection in 6A.

    Chris Manley, OpelikaPosition: CFYear: JuniorManley, who was named to the Class 6A all-state first team earlier this month, had a .389 batting average for Opelika with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 36 stolen bases, scored 37 runs and hit seven doubles. 
  10. Smiths Station Wins 7A Baseball

    Players from Smiths Station jump in a pile in celebration after defeating Thompson for the Class 7A state championship on Saturday night in Montgomery. The win gave the Panthers the first state baseball title in school history.
  11. HS All-Stars Taylor Yates

    Taylor Yates, Lee-ScottPosition: P/SSYear: SeniorYates was the leader for Lee-Scott both on the mound and at the plate. He finished the season with a .390 batting average, three home runs with 26 RBI. From the rubber, he posted a 5-2 record with a 2.89 ERA and 22 strikeouts. 
  12. HS All-Stars Bailie Barnes Player of Year

    Beauregard's Bailie Barnes led the Hornets in the circle this year as the team advanced to the state softball tournament for the first time in school history.
