The No. 3 ranked Loachapoka girls varsity team handled Reeltown Wednesday night, 51-21.
With 181 team points, Auburn High defeated 16 other schools to win the Julian McPhillips Invitational on Saturday in Montgomery.
Both the Opelika boys and girls varsity teams picked up area wins on Friday night, defeating Benjamin Russell at home.
Opelika defeated Smiths Station, 76-54, on Tuesday night at home. Three Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Pernell Vickerstaff’s 14 points. Joey Payne added 13, while Jucorey Love finished with 12. AJ Butler chipped in with 9 points for Opelika, which improved to 11-3 on the year.
Although no area teams made it beyond the quarterfinals in the state playoffs this season, a plethora of local athletes ended their seasons with impressive individual accomplishments late Saturday night when the ASWA released its 2014 All-State rosters.
