LG638 LEGAL NOTICE STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF LEE NOTICE is hereby given that a bill substantially as follows will be introduced in the 2020 Regular Session of the Legislature of Alabama and application for its passage and enactment will be made; a map indicating specifically the territory to be annexed to or removed from the City of Opelika, Alabama, is on file for public inspection in the office of the probate judge: A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To alter, rearrange, and extend the boundary lines and corporate limits of the City of Opelika in Lee County. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. The boundary lines and corporate limits of the City of Opelika in Lee County are altered, rearranged, and extended to include within the corporate limits of the municipality, in addition to the lands now included, all of the following territory: Beginning at the southwest corner of the north half of Section 25, Township 20 North, Range 26 East, in Lee County, Alabama; thence northerly, along the west line of said half section, being also the present City Limits of the City of Opelika, along Widgon Road/Lee Road 171, 2640 feet, more or less, to the northwest corner of said Section 25 and the southwest corner of Section 24, Township 20 North, Range 26, East, in Lee County, Alabama; thence continue northerly, along the existing City Limits and Wigdon Road/ Lee Road 171, along the west line of said Section 24, 3960 feet, more or less; thence, departing the City Limits, continuing northerly, 1320 feet, more or less, to the northwest corner of said Section 24; thence easterly along the north line of said Section 24, 3530 feet, more or less, to the present City Limits of the City of Opelika; thence continuing along said section line and said City Limits, 1750 feet, more or less, to the northeast corner of said Section 24; thence southerly, along the east line of said Section 24, and the present City Limits of the City of Opelika, 2772 feet, more or less, to the center of a branch; thence, along said branch, being also the present City Limits of the City of Opelika, the following courses: S56°E, 133.98 feet; S79°E, 102.96 feet; N77°30'E, 181.50 feet; thence N79°15'E, 198 feet; thence N56°30'E, 91.74 feet; thence N25°E, 89.10 feet; thence N48°E, 66 feet; thence N77°E, 227.7 feet; thence S8°30'E, 39.6 feet; thence S83°30'E, 56.10 feet; thence N65°E, 50.82 feet; thence N68°E, 121.44 feet; thence East, 111.54 feet; thence, leaving said branch, and continuing along the present City Limits of Opelika, N62°40'E, 1334 feet, more or less; thence, departing the City Limits, continuing N62°40'E, 932 feet, more or less to a point on the present City Limits; thence continuing N62°40'E along said City Limits, 420 feet to the southwesterly right of way line of U. S. Highway 431/Lafayette Parkway, thence, along said right of way line, S34°50'E, 1573 feet, more or less, to a point on the southerly boundary of the north half of Section 19, Township 20 North, Range 27 East; thence, S88°26'09"W, along said half section line, 2125.60 feet, more or less, to the center of said Section 19; thence S2°24'43"E, along the north-south half section line of said Section 19, 994 feet, more or less, to the present City Limits of the City of Opelika; thence continuing S2°24'43"E along said half section line, being also the City Limits, 1637 feet, more or less, to the halfway mark on the south line of said Section 19 and the north line of Section 30, Township 20 North, Range 27 East; thence continuing along the present City Limits, S45°W, 3733.5 feet, more or less, to the southeast corner of the north half of Section 25, Township 20 North, Range 26 East; thence departing the present City Limits, westerly along the south line of said half section, 4085 feet, more or less, to the present City Limits; thence continuing westerly along the south line of said half section, and the present City Limits, 1195 feet, more or less, to the Point of Beginning. Containing, in aggregate, 1250 acres, more or less, or 1.9531 square miles, more or less. Section 2. In accordance with Section 11-42-6(b) of the Code of Alabama 1975, a map showing what territory is proposed to be annexed to the City of Opelika is on file in the office of the Judge of Probate in Lee County, Alabama, and the map is open to the inspection of the public. Section 3. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
