On a cold, rainy night, I found myself wanting something warm to eat. I decided to head out toward Moores Mill to Lucy’s with my friend Emma to see what we could find.
I knew that they had tacos on special on Tuesdays, so I was hopeful we would be able to consume warm, delicious tacos.
However, the restaurant recently changed its taco Tuesday offerings to feature a singular family-style option. We saw people around us eating a food board full of delicious-looking taco treats, but we decided it would have been too much food for just the two of us.
As I continued to cruise the menu, I saw a warm seasonal salad that sounded delicious. If you know me at all you know that I’m down to eat any healthy salad at any time of day.
The salad, called the Warm Root Vegetable Salad, contained Brussels sprouts, potatoes, heirloom baby carrots and beets. It also came with a honey apple cider vinaigrette dressing.
Lucy’s also allows you to add protein to your salad for an added price. I decided to add grilled chicken to my salad, bringing the salad total cost to $20. I was hopeful that the salad would be large since I was paying a hefty price for it.
Emma decided to get an herb roasted chicken entrée that came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Her dish cost $28.
After a little while, our food arrived at the table. Emma’s chicken was a massive portion and looked delicious. Mine, on the other hand, was rather disappointing.
The salad had maybe six pieces of uncut lettuce and relatively few vegetables, especially for its price tag. However, the chicken I added was a full-sized chicken breast.
Despite the size, the salad was delicious. All the vegetables were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The dressing with the salad was also delicious. I wish I was able to package the dressing up and take it home.
The chicken was also cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of seasoning.
Emma enjoyed her dish as well, but because hers was such a large portion size, she had a fair amount of leftovers to take home.
Overall, my meal was great, but not worth the price.
