If ever a menu item was true to its name, this was definitely it.
I’m talking about the Extreme Milkshakes at The Mason Jar Restaurant in Auburn. I tried one of the milkshakes for this week’s food review.
The Extreme Milkshake Bar is open from 4-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays. There are a number to choose from, and they have their own menu.
After looking at the images of the creations that included Super Hero, Unicorn, Strawberry Cheesecake, Mermaid, Mint Chocolate, Butter Pecan, Birthday Cake and Salty Caramel, I ordered the chocolate shake. The menu also listed other Extreme Milkshakes not pictured. And a non-dairy shake is available too.
My chocolate shake was a “Whoa” moment when it came to my table. It was big. Its toppings were whipped cream, a Moon Pie, an ice cream sandwich and what I think was a Milky Way bar and a large Reese’s cup. It also had chocolate sprinkles.
I asked for a plate to put my toppings on while I tried my shake. It was rich, decadent and delicious.
I took a few bites of one my toppings, but my Extreme Milkshake beat me. I did the best I could though. But if I’m honest, I didn’t think I could devour the whole thing in one sitting.
I boxed up my toppings and transferred my extra shake to a to-go cup to enjoy later.
The Extreme Milkshakes are $10 before tax and totally worth it.
Sometimes food can be, well…boring. Extreme Milkshakes are far from that.
