I typically try to eat a rather clean diet, however, I found myself craving a sweet treat this week because of the chocolate bunnies I keep seeing with Easter approaching.
I recently found out that Cakeitecture Bakery opened a storefront in Opelika and sells homemade baked goods and specialty coffees daily.
Being the millennial that I am, I have seen the store’s specialty decorated sugar cookies all over Instagram and knew that they were the sweet treat I needed.
I went during the afternoon and was greeted by one of the sweetest smells.
The case upfront had a variety of decorated sugar cookies, all were Easter themed, cupcakes and cake pops. While I was trying to decide on which treat I should pick, the staff member was telling me when each cookie was decorated.
According to her, each cookie was decorated that day and was very fresh.
I opted for the Easter Bunny-shaped sugar cookie because it was too cute not to purchase. My total came out to just over $4, a little expensive for a singular sugar cookie. However, for a hand-decorated cookie, the price was probably accurate.
When I got home, I was barely able to eat the cookie because it was so beautiful, and I didn’t want to ruin it. But once I bit into it, I realized what all the fuss was about. It was, hands down, the best sugar cookie I have ever had.
Yes, you read that right, best sugar cookie ever.
It was dense, sweet but not too sweet and more delicious with every bite. I usually get nauseous from all the sugar in sweet cookies, but this cookie left me wanting more and more.
The icing was also perfectly done. The cookie has just the right amount of frosting to add a touch more sweetness without overdoing it.
Forget the chocolate bunnies, fill my Easter basket with these cookies.
If it wasn’t for my self-proclaimed diet I am currently, and always, on, I would eat a Cakeitecture cookie every day.
