If you haven’t noticed yet, my weekly mantra has now become "another week, another new salad to eat."
So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that I found out Amsterdam Cafe updated its menu, which features a new seasonal salad, a Heirloom Tomato Salad.
I quickly discovered Amsterdam offers take-out as an option. I was sold, especially because I had just returned from vacation and had nothing healthy to eat in my refrigerator.
Amsterdam offers pre-ordering your food item online. The feature allows you to schedule a pick-up time or have it ready as soon as possible. You can also pre-pay online as well.
I decided to take advantage of this feature and ordered my Heirloom Tomato Salad at 4 p.m. to be ready at 6:15 p.m. for when I returned to Auburn from work.
The salad, plus tax and tip, was just about $12. Not bad.
I received a text message from Amsterdam at about 6 p.m. letting me know my food was ready for me.
Once I returned home, I opened up my salad excited to see what it looked like.
The Heirloom Tomato Salad comes with heirloom tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese, pancetta lardons, corn, salt, pepper, olive oil and champagne vinegar.
To my dismay, the salad was slightly smaller than what I had pictured in my mind. However, it still looked delicious.
Upon taking my first bite, I noticed how fresh the tomatoes were. They were firm, juicy and delicious. The corn was a nice touch as well.
The highlight of the salad was the pancetta lardons. I could have eaten those all day and would have loved to have even more on my salad.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long for me to finish the salad.
Although smaller in size, the salad was delicious. You will find me eating this salad again before tomato season ends.
