April 1, 2014, April Fool's Day was no "fool's day" for Jonathan Shane Turner and Morgan Ciara Hall.
Being impatient to begin life together found them, between college classes and exams, at the Lee County Courthouse in Opelika, Alabama, making their marriage commitment legal and official, witnessed as required.
Following graduation from Auburn University with teaching career in place for one, basic military training and now completion of Marine Corps Officer School for the other; those laid-aside plans for the "Bells and Whistles" wedding ceremony came to fruition.
Five p.m. on May 7, 2016, in the Opelika First Baptist Church chapel in the presence of God, family and friends, those now comfortable vows were repeated with renewed sincerity. Johnny Turner, grandfather of the groom, Dadeville, officiated; pianist Seth Smith, Auburn, provided a prelude of classical and modern selected pieces.
The bride was stunning in a white, curved, strapless, floor-length sheath gown with tulip mini train of charmeuse satin. The gown featured ruche detail from bodice to hem; a jewel-and-beaded belt with front medallion focus encircled her waist. Her fingertip veil of gathered silk allusion was held with jeweled beret in her unswept coiffeur.
Bridesmaids were Kelsie Schultz, maid of honor, and Megan Hall, sister of the bride, both of Canton, Ga.; and Courtney Turner Rowan, sister of the groom, Auburn. All wore above-knee frocks of satin, canary yellow, featuring vee neckline with gathered detail to waist; all carried spring floral bouquets of yellow, white and cobalt blue.
The flower girl, Josie Jackson, bride's cousin, Canton, Ga., was an angel, with her golden spiral curls, wearing a white ballerina dress of satin with organza overlay. All wore matching pearl necklaces and earrings, gifts from the bride. The groom presented in Marine dress uniform. Groomsmen were Eli Morris, best man, of Farmington, N.M.; Phillip Cross, brother-in-law, and Turner Huddleston, groom's cousin, both of Auburn; and junior groomsman, Cooper Jackson, bride's nephew, of Canton, Ga. All were alike attired in navy slacks, formal navy vests over white dress shirts and with complimentary yellow ties, gift of the groom. They wore yellow rose boutineers.
A reception, dinner and dancing followed in the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.
Morgan is the daughter of Jeff and Jodi Hall, Canton, Ga.; granddaughter of Denton and Susan Kornburger, Las Vegas, Nevada; and John and Lynda Hall of Marrietta, Ga.
Shane is the son of Troy and Barbara Turner, Dadeville; Barbara Nell and Gregory McBride, Auburn; grandson of Dennis and Barbara Dibbens, Kansas City, Kansas, and Johnny and Jeanie Turner, Dadeville.
Many out-of-town relatives and friends attended, including several from the groom's Marine platoon giving a patriotic salute in the dress uniforms.
The couple enjoyed a brief honeymoon at Mount Cheaha, Ala., followed later with a cruise in the Caribbean.
